Animals And Humans Share DNA, A Nervous System, Intelligence, Creativity And Emotions

We know that we share 60% of our DNA with bananas, fruit flies and chickens and 96% with chimpanzees making as all part of the same life drawn from the same template. We could actually call planet Earth a planet where just one life form exists - as far as DNA goes - in various degrees of complexity. Life is alive and shares many of the same characteristics, particularly those characteristics that people say make us human. We all share the same startle response, depending on our sensory ability. We know mammals - including humans - share the same sort of brain connectivity as we would expect from being from the same species. Mammals also share love, empathy and creativity. We also know from years of research, and personal stories from people who work with or live with animals, that they have emotions just like we do. We share the nerve structure and many of the same behaviors with animals such as empathy...

What animals are thinking and feeling, and why it should matter | Carl Safina | TEDxMidAtlantic

Carl Safina takes us inside the lives and minds of animals around the world, witnessing their profound capacity for perception, thought and emotion, showing why the word "it" is often inappropriate as we discover "who" they really are. And yet, we are wiping out the very animals we should celebrate; we are the flood coming for Noah's Ark. Carl leaves us with a difficult question: Do we have what it takes to let life on earth survive?

This collection of videos just aims to show that animals feel like humans do. When primitive tribes or cultures call animals cousins or teachers we see that there have been deep connections between our ancestors and the animals around them based on observation and experience. Maybe primitive cultures views of animals as cousins could be an applicable view to modern science?
