Cartoon Movie: Gulliver's Travels (1939) - Plot Summary: Gulliver washes ashore on Lilliput and attempts to prevent war between that tiny kingdom and its equally-minuscule rival, Blefiscu, as well as smooth the way for the romance between the Princess and Prince of the opposing lands. In this he is alternately aided and hampered by the Lilliputian town crier and general fussbudget, Gabby. A life-threatening situation develops when the bumbling trio of Blefiscu spies, Sneak, Snoop, and Snitch, manage to steal Gulliver's pistol.
A classic feature length cartoon made & released right before WW2. Given the time it was made, the graphics involved, color, music score... and the childhood feelings it invokes, I have to give it a perfect score. 10/10 Stars
The following are some other related animation shorts I found. Notice some of the precursors to Tom & Jerry episodes seem to be in them;
Gabby: All's Well by Published 1941 - Gabby tries to put a diaper on a cranky baby. Animation by David Tendlar and William Nolan. Music by Sammy Timberg. Produced in 1941.
Reminiscent of Tom fighting a fish when he was using Jerry as bait & avoiding the dog guard;
GABBY GOES FISHING (1941)Gabby was the town crier in "Gulliver's Travels". A series of 9 Gabby cartoons was produced in 1940-41. "Gabby Goes Fishing" is number 7. Gabby wants to teach a young boy how to catch the really big fish and ends up getting hooked himself. This Public Domain copy is faded indeed, but still a contribution to the collection of Fleischer cartoons on this site.
Like Disney's fire brigade cartoon but with a Klutz (a variation on a theme cartoonists were playing around with at that time);
GABBY: FIRE CHEESE (1941)Gabby, town crier in Lilliput, wants to help the fire department while they put out a fire.
