Alfred Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps" (1935) - Spy Thriller

Video: Taken from IMDB: Richard Hannay is a Canadian visitor to London. At the end of "Mr Memory"'s show in a music hall, he meets Annabella Smith who is running away from secret agents. He accepts to hide her in his flat, but in the night she is murdered. Fearing he could be accused on the girl's murder, Hannay goes on the run to break the spy ring. (A public domain movie)

One of Alfred Hitchcock's early films. I didn't quite understand why the woman in the start was murdered and not the man. Maybe it was so he could make a movie. The movie provides a glimpse into the culture of the time. From it's clothing and trains all the way to it's couples and lifestyle. Just for that this flick gets a 6/10 Stars.
