The 1900 years before that women were seen as evil (Eve) and Unclean (Period i.e. See Leviticus 15:19 ... same book that says Gays are evil says women are unclean ... more? = http://www.culturesocietyblog.com/2013/03/gods-christian-warriors-with-scriptural.html ). The sort of Patriarchal attitude adopted towards women by the GOP is so ancient and primitive it's banned in Islam: “If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives” (Deuteronomy 22:28–29). (i.e. In Islam the punishment for Rape is Death {Ibn al-Atsir, Jami al-Ushul, IV/270, no 1823 & Hadith: During the time of the Prophet (saw) punishment was inflicted on the rapist on the solitary evidence of the woman who was raped by him. Wa'il ibn Hujr reports of an incident when a woman was raped. Later, when some people came by, she identified and accused the man of raping her. They seized him and brought him to Allah's messenger, who said to the woman, "Go away, for Allâh has forgiven you," but of the man who had raped her, he said, "Stone him to death." (Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud)} - not payment and marriage (I'm guessing rape was such a big problem at that time that death was the only way to slow it down on a societal level... same applies to Modern Day India, no?) - Though that part of the "Shariah" isn't necessarily followed. That's normal in a patriarchal culture. For example the word "Allah" means "Divine Being" and lacks any sense of masculine or feminine meaning but people in a patriarchal culture will still see God as male.)Mysterious Newshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01885778001715522833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5274151340236399448.post-78491263445948921842013-06-20T07:14:13.195-05:002013-06-20T07:14:13.195-05:00I guess you are partially right. It should read "the Arabs who adopted such an EXTREME form of Hijab" (a word whose root is "decency").

As for this http://qahiri.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/hijab-by-different-religions.jpg you basically proved my point that the full Burqa is an extreme form of Hijab by calling partial hair covering "Hijab". All I did was point out the source of this extreme form of Hijab. i.e. it's a historical fact that it originates from Damascus. (To REAL Islamic Scholars: Would 'feminine modesty' be a better translation of the root meaning of the word?).

That said, I was a religion major in college (a real college not a State college) and one of my concentrations was in Islam (others in Jewish and Christian Scripture and in Indian History & Religion)... if you don't like history that's not my problem. Like the people of Argentina who switched to brown bread from white bread because their President did showing them it was cool… the poor copied the rich to show that they could afford to cover their women as well. The way this keyboard I’m typing on became a tradition because the letters were scrambled to slow down types because the machines were too slow and now everyone is used to this keyboard and don’t want to change, so it is with the Arabs who adopted such Hijab … who represent the opposite extreme of the ‘objectification of women’.”

Nothing written here alludes to that. The book you quote about Burr is absolutely wrong. Jackson was a Burrite, he went to Burr's treason trial to support Burr. As president, Jackson invited Burr to the White House.

The two things Jackson is most famous for, closing the National Bank and giving white males who didn't own property the vote, were extensions of Burr's policies form the 1790s. Only Burr wasn't a racist like Jackson.

Burr was a proto-socialist who created land coops so that people who could not afford property could vote. He also gave loans to the working classes breaking Hamilton's New York banking monopoly and threatening the National Bank. As a politician, he represented the most radical members of society including the Daughters and Sons of Liberty. He also was a feminist even by today's standards and he believed in the equality of the races and was therefore against slavery. Burr was also an environmentalist who brought clean water to New York City helping to improve the health of the citizens, especially the poor who didn’t have recourses to acquire clean water.

In 1796 Burr finished fourth in the presidential election. In 1800 he tied Jefferson because of the radically progressive polices mentioned above. Burr was a threat to the succession of Madison and Monroe to the presidency and Jefferson had to destroy him. Despite Jefferson's writing, he supported expansion of slavery into the western territories and he knew that, as president Burr would not support those policies.

Slave owners and bankers worked together to destroy Burr political career and reputation. Both Jefferson and Hamilton hired journalists to attack Burr and tell vicious lies about his character. If you know anything about American history, you will remember that Washington and Adams both stopped speaking and communicating with Jefferson for the same underhanded political tactics.

http://aaronburrsociety.orgAaron Burr Societyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02778117804720575815noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5274151340236399448.post-60811271521248385452009-08-27T09:55:03.091-05:002009-08-27T09:55:03.091-05:00If you are interested in reading further about inc...If you are interested in reading further about inclusion and diversity, I suggest you check out the book Inclusion Paradox by Andres Tapia. Andrés Tapia has become one of the foremost thought leaders in the area of workplace diversity. He offers a unique perspectives on how inclusion has shifted the paradigm on how leaders now think about diversity. It is a good read for those who are interested!Below is a short summary of what to expect:

In The Inclusion Paradox: The Obama Era and the Transformation of Global Diversity Andrés Tapia, Hewitt Associates chief diversity officer, reveals how in these times of unprecedented peril and opportunity, diversity's demographic tsunami is accelerating today's social, economic, and political tectonic shifts. In the book, he explores what is required to move into the next generation of diversity work in ways that get past the tired and clichéd approaches. He makes the case for making inclusion relevant for all, including the white male, and breaks ground by challenging the notion that the melting pot leads to inclusion. The Inclusion Paradox also focuses on the cultural implications of the Obama Era in the United States and around the world. More than a political point in time, the Obama Era is a cultural marker that succinctly captures the various global trends converging at this time in history. The Inclusion Paradox will enable readers to contribute strategically and practically to the urgent work of making diversity and inclusion relevant to business and organizational success around the world.MelissaGWilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06398568333405977987noreply@blogger.com
