The Sumerian "handbags" were ancient buckets and the "handbags" on the stone pillars at Gobekli Tepe actually have a different shape and most likely represent the enclosures at Gobeki Tepe themselves. The research is impeccable. The handbag "mystery" online seems to be thoroughly debunked to me. I've always thought Graham Hancock's theories that they contained drugs from the Amazon (or just drugs) to be a little far fetched. By the way, the "handbag" observation was made by Graham Hancock in his 'Magician Of The Gods' videos. It seems that theory has spread and many people on youtube have come up with their own theories to explain Hancock's handbag observation without actually mentioning who originally came up with this theory - that these images are all connected - in the first place. The shape of the handbags in the Sumerian reliefs and at Gobekli Tepe are different and shouldn't have been seen as hand bags at all. That was the mistake there. But, for Ancient Alien enthusiasts, you could still see the "handbag" images at Gobekli Tepe as cars.

Here are a couple of screenshots taken from Graham Hancock's video Magician of the Gods, a work in progress. The bucket is identified for the Sumerians (left). A bag is general enough to not mean anything if found in another culture. The "bag" at Gobekli Tepe is not shaped as a bag but has an edge and is considered to represent the Gobekli Tepe enclosures and there is no reason to think that assessment is inaccurate. (See full explanation in video below). All gods, goddesses and shamans wear animals around them going back a very long time. Serpent and fish is different enough not to mean anything in relation to each other. And if contact can be proved by boat between the two continents, which is possible, the timelines are all wrong. However you look at it the Gobekli Tepe connection isn't valid on this object.
