The GOP-Republican "War On Animals - As A Form Of Environmental Control!

Republicans: Instead of killing horses and camels for money (GOP) or environmental control (GOP-Aus)... why not send them to the Indian Sub-Continent?

United States

Tens of thousands of horses roam the American west! How cool is that? Here is a link from PBS
So where did the modern horses come from, the ones that spawned America’s cowboy myth? Historians believe that Spanish explorers brought the animals with them on their voyages to the New World in the 1500s. Let loose upon the land, they soon reclaimed the prairies that had once been theirs alone, producing vast herds of wild horses. Even today, as HORSES shows, tens of thousands of wild horses roam the American West. To prevent the herds from destroying their habitat, the U.S. government captures hundreds each year and puts them up for adoption. For some of the proud new owners, the chance to ride a wild-born horse is a dream come true — and the continuation of an age-old relationship that has made the horse one of our most revered and fascinating animal partners.

Learn about wild horses...

For some weird reason, the problem of wild horses is being solved in a brutal and inhumane way (as if the people who passed/support this law like to watch or think about torture)...
HORSE SLAUGHTER HAS BEEN BANNED SINCE 2006 IN THE UNITED STATES. Since 2006, horse slaughter has been banned in the U.S. In the annual agriculture appropriations bill, language with bipartisan support has been carried that eliminates federal funding for any activity involving the inspection of horse meat for human consumption. This restriction has effectively closed horse slaughter for human consumption facilities in the U.S. But this year the language was not included by the subcommittee for the first time in five years. Last week, Jim Moran introduced an amendment during full committee markup to restore the ban on horse slaughter in the U.S. The language was approved, but a floor fight on the issue looms in the near future.Jim Moran wants to convince all of his colleagues of the need to continue to uphold current law making this inappropriate practice off-limits, and I want YOU, MY REPRESENTATIVE to continue to uphold current law making Funding of USDA Inspections for Horse Meat for Human Consumption ILLEGAL in the United States. HORSE SLAUGHTER IS NOT HUMANE. Dr. Lester Friedlander, DVM & former Chief USDA Inspector, told Congress in 2008, “The captive bolt is not a proper instrument for the slaughter of equids, these animals regain consciousness 30 seconds after being struck, they are fully aware they are being vivisected.” (IN PLAIN ENGLISH that means that they are SKINNED ALIVE and CONSCIOUS as their insides are ripped out.) DO WE SLAUGHTER DOGS AND SEND THE MEAT TO COUNTRIES WHERE DOG MEAT IS EATEN? While horse meat is considered a delicacy in some countries, it is not in the U.S. There are moral implications for allowing a practice that upwards of nearly three-quarters of the American people oppose. Just because there is a market for horse meat in some countries does not mean the U.S. must be their supplier. There is a market for dog meat in some societies, too, and an overpopulation of them in the U.S. Should man’s best friend face a similar fate? Of course not, and the same principle should hold true for horses.

There are alternatives to killing horses - you can sterilize them or even break them for consumers to use.

Australia

(Above: NOT the type of camel in Australia, for Australian type see link below - Intelligence level is the same though)

I thought it was funny that this solution was actually offered...

Australia Considers Killing Camels to Tackle Climate Change

Eliminating Camel Farts to help the environment: A commercial company, Northwest Carbon, has proposed culling more than one million camels in the Australian Outback to eliminate that gas emissions, according to AFP. 2. Innovative solutions from an innovative nation: "We're a nation of innovators and we find innovative solutions to our challenges -- this is just a classic example," Northwest Carbon managing director Tim Moore told Australian Associated Press.

The motivations for such an action could be;
1. laziness to shift resources,
2. don't want to lose even a dollar of profit in the short run,
3. hate animals or don't care about anything but themselves.

To The Edge of Physics... And Beyond! (Includes The Conversational Movie About Modern Physics Called "Mindwalk")

This post contains information on physics for the lay physicist and the professional:

Brian Greene
Brian Greene says math is the gateway to reality and calls Stephen a bag of particles governed by the laws of physics. (05:58)

Next, the movie Mindwalk...

Mindwalk by Bernt Capra (1 hour and 52 minutes long)
A US politician (Sam Waterston) visits his poet friend (John Heard) in Mont. St. Michael, France. While walking through the medieval island discussing their philosophies of life they happen upon Sonja (Liv Ullman), a scientist in recluse, who joins in their conversation. The two men listen to the ideas of this brilliant woman and discuss how her ideas can work in their own politician and poet lives.

Building & Maintaining Awareness For Mental Warriors

In the following lecture Karen Armstrong explains her view on the compassionate life and provides some guidance that can also be found in her book "Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life"

Notes and Perspectives:

{Some the leaders for the Charter is Pakistan (Business men and others in the private sector). :) }

1. War is fought for political and economic reasons, religion is often used as the disguise as it can motivate the masses. [Religious fervor is a great tool for tyrants, be it from traditional religions such as Christianity or Islam or one of the new ones such as the new version of Republicanism (which is not the proper Republicanism) or, what I call, 'Scientism' (i.e. if it's not proved by the group of scientists that you believe in then it must be false) etc. i.e... The Edge of Physics (see post above/after this)

2. She refers to entering the 'Presence of the Doa':

Definition of TAO
1 a : the unconditional and unknowable source and guiding principle of all reality as conceived by Taoists
b : the process of nature by which all things change and which is to be followed for a life of harmony

My perspective on the Tao which may be different from Karen Armstrong's (or may not) : To follow the Tao one must be aligned with the processes of nature - this includes life and death.

A balanced perspective, when following the Tao, (in my opinion), consists of accepting death, understanding 'the-self' and learning the how to observe yourself i.e. self detachment for self understanding...

The observer technique... is to learn how to observe yourself as you go about your day and feel whatever you feel, for example, if you are angry you should be able to keep a part of yourself separate from that anger in an 'observer' perspective. With practice you will learn how to keep a part of your mind constantly observing your emotions which will give you distance and thus control. Then you need to learn how to let go of observation and emotional attachments and just flow (this is a zen perspective which I have outlined here:Simple explanation of Zen from Bodhidharma)

'Putting yourself in the shoes of others' - This is important to help build understanding, compassion and is absolutely essential in war as knowing your enemy is half the battle.
[Note: It is also useful to love your enemy as it removes any blocks from your perception - i.e. hate or anger can blind you from seeing essential shatter points in your enemies strategies (though anger can be useful at times - if controlled using the observer technique), once an enemy is eliminated or placed in line for the execution block (or jail) you can let go of that love and go back to neutrality (another essential for strategists in war).]

3. To hate others because they are different from us or have some different beliefs or life patterns is a dangerous attitude to have in today's heavily integrated AND armed world.

Learning to acknowledge that you don't know something and instead have a willingness to learn (through independent investigation and not JUST some authority figure), is difficult.

"Socrates insisted on accepting the importance of accepting the limits of human knowledge"

Socrates said, 'I am wise in one thing only and that is that I know nothing at all'
